NUHMIBEEUHN: FILM SCREENING + DIRECTOR Q&A
Sunday, June 29 @ 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm
$14.64
Join us for a powerful afternoon at The New Parkway Theater for a special screening of Nuhmibeeuhn (29min 59seconds), a moving short documentary by Oakland-based Namibian filmmaker Kavena Hambira. A descendant of the Herero people—targets of Germany’s first genocide—Hambira weaves personal history, archival research, and poetic storytelling to confront a buried past that still echoes today.
Following the screening, stay for an intimate Q&A with the director and Rabbi Cat Zavis to explore the film’s urgent themes of memory, colonial violence, and repair. Presented in collaboration with Beyt Tikkun Synagogue.
