“Keeper of the Fire” – 30 mins
Keeper of the Fire is 27-minute documentary on the life and work of acclaimed San Francisco writer/poet/activist, Alejandro Murguia, the first Latino Poet Laureate of San Francisco. The film explores the roles activist writers and poets play in the fight for a more just and equitable world. Following in the footsteps of the Beat poets and inspired by the rich tradition of Spanish and Latin American literature, Murguia passionately confronts injustice and inequality with his work and his words. The six-time Emmy winning team of producers are Raymond Telles, Louis F. Dematteis and David L. Brown. https://keeperofthefire.info/
“From Here/From There (De Aquí/De Allá)” – 89 mins
When the Trump administration abruptly threatens to deport 700,000 fellow Dreamers – the charismatic attorney and DACA recipient Luis Cortes Romero fights back, co-piloting an A-Team of lawyers who takes their case all the way to the Supreme Court, making Luis the first undocumented immigrant to argue before the nation’s highest court. At this critical moment for immigrant rights and amid ongoing threats to DACA, From Here/From There (De Aquí/De Allá) is a timely documentary that underscores the urgent need for compassionate immigration reform.
