72 HOUR SLEEPLESS, MAKE MORE FILM FESTIVAL

Exactly what can a group of filmmakers come up with in three days’ time? You show us – we’re putting on our first-ever 72 Hour Sleep Less Make More Project! Here’s the drill:

– You gather a cast and crew and pay the $50 registration fee to reserve your spot (space is limited, so don’t wait!)
– Attend the “Take Your Marks” kickoff event at the New Parkway on Friday, August 29th at 7pm. Team representatives will select their team’s genre out of a random hat (or popcorn b

owl) drawing. Each team that chooses to participate will also be assigned mandatory components such as a line of dialogue, prop, landmark, character, etc. to be included in the final project.
– Go! Make a film! Seriously, right now, because you’ve only got 72 hours!
– 3 nights later- before the stroke of midnight on September 1st- all completed films must be submitted. The minimum runtime for each film must be at least 5 minutes long and no more than 8 minutes long in duration- including additional opening credits or ending credits that run longer than 60 seconds.

On Sunday, September 14th, we’ll screen all the films, and the audience will vote on the winners.

There are a few items that you may begin acquiring BEFOREHAND:
Gathering your cast & crew, collecting equipment, scouting and/or securing locations, and pre-recording music or sound effects (as long as the composer/ musician consents)

MISSION:

The aim of the New Parkway Theater’s Sleep-Less-Make-More Project is to tap into the restlessly creative community of Bay Area filmmakers. By providing a narrow window of time to move through the pre-production, production, and post-production stages of filmmaking we hope to catalyze the creative process, weeding out the excess and getting right down to it. As a community space we hope to

 both engage our local artists and celebrate their efforts with a film festival that showcases their tireless collaborations.
